Sound-Check Wednesday - October 31, 2012

It’s me, SuperTeala, and I’m back with our Sound Check Wednesday.

Happy Halloween! What are you doing for Halloween? Dressing up?

I’m not. Or maybe I am - if you count writing papers for a library science class as dressing up, then I’m a librarian. Or something.

Anywho, let’s jump in.

We want your stories!

In November, we’re focusing on Recovery.

Such a simple word with such a variety of implications, not a one of them simple.

This month, the Band is focusing upon recovery - from anything. Part of getting through the traumas, the addictions, the mental illnesses is to focus on the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel and focus upon new coping mechanisms, new ways of life, and recovery.

So, The Band, how are YOU recovering? What are you recovering from? How are some ways you cope while recovering?

Other tips for posts:

Got a post in drafts you’d like to submit or you thought was submitted? Go hit that submit button.

You can always re-post here from your own blog. (Shh…I’ve done it before.)

Always remember that no story is too small. Happy or sad, light or dark - ALL of your stories matter. YOU matter.

Have you purchased one of our spiffy calendars? No? You know you want one. Check it out!

Shirts! I have quite a few of them, but there’s always room for more. Get yours here.

Remember that The Band is run by awesome volunteers who work to keep the site ad-free. If you’d like to help keep The Band ad-free, we’ve got a donation button at the bottom of the page. All donations go to support things like  server costs so that we can keep the site up and running for YOU.

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

Would you like to volunteer with the Brains Behind The Band? If so, email volunteer@bandbacktogether.com.

For technical (site related, password, error messages, etc) questions, email fallah@bandbacktogether.com.

Anything else can be sent to bandbacktogether@gmail.com, and we’ll make sure to get your question in front of the right eyes.

And just as a note, we don’t have a Twitter Party lined up for tonight. You should go celebrate and have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

Then, come back and join us next week for the #withtheband party.

The Band is SOCIAL:

Follow @bandback2gether and our behind-the-scenes account @BrainsofBB2G

We’re on Google Plus, Tumblr, and The Facebook.

I’ve got to get my database-designing on, so this is SuperTeala signing off. Have a wonderful Halloween!

About

Band Back Together is a group weblog that provides educational resources as well as a safe, moderated, supportive environment to share stories of survival. Through the power of real stories written by real people, we can work together to destigmatize mental illness, abuse, rape, baby loss and other traumas so that we may learn, grow, and heal.

On Band Back Together, we put a face to things not normally discussed. We are the face of depression. We are the face of baby loss. We are the face of mental illness. We are the face of abuse. We are the face of rape. We are the face of SURVIVORS and we are proud to be here. We wear our scars proudly, like battle wounds because everything we've survived has made us who we are today: better, stronger, and smarter.

It's time to pull our skeletons out of the closet and make them dance the tango.

We will no longer let our secrets fester inside. We will no longer live in the dark.

All are welcome.
