Sound-Check Wednesday - April 24, 2013

Howdy, y’all!

In the aftermath of last week, I know many of us are still trying to make sense of things and work through many different thoughts and feelings.

I’d certainly suggest reading or re-reading How To Take Care Of Yourself When The World Seems So Messed Up. I’ve just revisited this post myself, and it was a great reminder of things I can and should do to help myself heal and to turn around and do something to help those more immediately affected by the circumstances in West, Texas, and Boston.

Sound-Check Wednesday - April 10, 2013

Oh! It’s Wednesday. That means it’s time for…

We all have a story to share. Maybe it’s something no one knows about you that you’d rather keep anonymous but you feel a need to share it - here, you can post anonymously. Maybe it’s something you want to share so that you don’t feel quite so alone in your journey - that’s what sharing your story and leaving comments are for.

Sound-Check Wednesday - March 27, 2013

h! Guess what time it is? Sound-Check Wednesday time.

It’s SuperTeala - as always. First, I want to say thank YOU for the suggestions to get some sunshine, count my blessings, see the bright-side of things, and mentally slow down. I’ve tried them all, and they worked wonders. Thank you!

Sound-Check Wednesday - March 20, 2013

It is I, SuperTeala, back with our Sound-Check Wednesday.

It’s only Wednesday, and I’ve already had a long week. My stress level is through the roof. However, I thought I’d take a moment to talk to you, The Band. You always know just want to say and how to help.

Do you have any tips for me, and everyone else, to help cope with the stress and take some time for myself?

This month’s World Tour theme is Project Self-Care.

We all do so much for other people. But do we do enough for ourselves? How do you take care of yourself, The Band? How do you manage to do the little things when life feels overwhelming?

Sound-Check Wednesday - March 6, 2013

I interrupt The Band’s regularly schedule programming to bring you this important message.

This is SuperTeala, here with our Sound-Check Wednesday.

This week I’m celebrating so many things. The fact that it’s almost spring break. Destroying a journal (because the prompts say to destroy it). Becoming okay with the messiness that is life. Being grateful for all of the things in my life. I could go on for a long while.

You know what else I’m celebrating this March? Taking the time to take care of myself.

This month’s World Tour theme is Project Self-Care.

We all do so much for other people. But do we do enough for ourselves?
How do you take care of yourself, The Band? How do you manage to do the little things when life feels overwhelming?
Share some of your coping strategies and the little ways you take care of YOU!

Don’t forgets:

No matter who you are or what you do, YOU have a story worth sharing. You never know, you might connect with someone through your story. Give it a shot.

Comments! They are so important. You never know how much one word could cheer up someone’s day.

Drafts! Be sure to check that you don’t have stories in your drafts that you thought you had submitted. It’s always good to go back and check.

Re-use old blog posts.

Share, share, share, and share some more!

We could use some new AWESOME volunteers to help us run things behind the scenes.

If you or someone you know would like to volunteer with the Brains Behind The Band, email volunteer@bandbacktogether.com.

Got questions? We could possibly have answers. (What?! We’re not a bunch Einsteins. Even I don’t know ALL the things.)

For technical (site related, password, error messages, etc) questions, email fallah@bandbacktogether.com.

Anything else can be sent to bandbacktogether@gmail.com, and we’ll make sure to get your question in front of the right eyes.

We’d like your feedback - no, not the kind between mics and stereos. We want to know what you think.

What would you like to see more of?

Would you like to see a new Resource Page on a new topic?

Do you have a World Tour theme suggestion?

Should we have MOAR Twitter parties? What topics would you like to see covered?

Do you want to see more action on GooglePlus?

We want to know. Send us an email to bandbacktogether@gmail.com.

Join us tonight for our Twitter Party at 7pm CST. Follow us on Twitter @bandback2gether and our behind-the-scenes account @BrainsofBB2G. Just follow along #withtheband.

Oh! And don’t forget. The Band has been nominated for Best Group or Community Weblog in the 2013 Bloggies! Visit their site to vote and check out the other categories. Voting closes Sunday, March 17.

Take care of yourself. Until next time, this is SuperTeala signing off.

This concludes our important message. Now back to regularly schedule programming.

Sound-Check Wednesday - February 20, 2013

I interrupt The Band’s regularly schedule programming to bring you this important message.

This is SuperTeala, here with our Sound-Check Wednesday.

This week, we’ve got a spiffy new image just for these posts! Our multimedia maven, Tracie, put it together. I just love this picture, and I just love Tracie. Thanks, Tracie!

I also love YOUR stories. You’ve got a story. We all have a story. No matter how big or small. No matter what you might think. Your story is important. YOU are important.

Sound-Check Wednesday - February 6, 2013

Howdy, y’all! SuperTeala, here with our Sound Check Wednesday.

I wanted to take a break from my library science reading and hunting for terrible analogies to talk to you, The Band. I miss you and always look forward to writing these posts. Y’all make me happy beyond words, and words make me really happy.

You know what else makes me happy? New World Tour themes.

February’s theme is Project Happy.

Sound-Check Wednesday - January 23, 2013

Howdy, The Band! It is I, SuperTeala, here with our Sound Check Wednesday.

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday. Where is this week going?

I’ll be out of town this weekend, but I wanted to give y’all some updates. Yay for updates!

January’s World Tour theme is One Day I’m Gonna.

Dreams. We all have them. Some dreams are as simple as getting a full night’s sleep or getting an extra twenty minutes in at the gym. Others are more complicated - going back to school, making partner at your firm, taking that dream cruise through Alaska. But we all have them. Sometimes, our dreams are what keep us going through the very darkest of times.

So what are your dreams, The Band? What will you do one day?

What do we have coming up for February? Well, I’m glad you asked. Project Happy! It’s time to bring the happy back - how do you keep your happy alive? What makes you happiest?

Sound-Check Wednesday - December 5, 2012

Howdy, The Band! It is I, SuperTeala, here with our Sound Check Wednesday.

Happy December!

A new month means a new World Tour theme!

December’s World Tour theme is I’ve Learned.

What a year it has been. For some of us, it was a year of dreams fulfilled, questions answered and our way, at long last, found. For some of us, it was a year of loss, sadness and longing for what we once had. For all of us, it was a year in which we learned, loved, and grew.
What did 2012 mean to you?

Sound-Check Wednesday - November 28, 2012

Howdy, The Band! It is I, SuperTeala, here with our Sound Check Wednesday.

Happy almost December!

How was your Thanksgiving?

Mine was pretty awesome and comical. My sister and I were left to make Thanksgiving dinner, and all was going well until I screwed up the dressing. (Note to self: Remember that dressing/stuffing should be only slight moist and not creamy.) All in all, it was wonderful to have some time off. Also, I became an auntie again. One of my bestest and oldest friends had her second child, a little boy, last Wednesday. Yay!

Sound-Check Wednesday - October 31, 2012

It’s me, SuperTeala, and I’m back with our Sound Check Wednesday.

Happy Halloween! What are you doing for Halloween? Dressing up?

I’m not. Or maybe I am - if you count writing papers for a library science class as dressing up, then I’m a librarian. Or something.

Anywho, let’s jump in.

We want your stories!

In November, we’re focusing on Recovery.

Such a simple word with such a variety of implications, not a one of them simple.

About

Band Back Together is a group weblog that provides educational resources as well as a safe, moderated, supportive environment to share stories of survival. Through the power of real stories written by real people, we can work together to destigmatize mental illness, abuse, rape, baby loss and other traumas so that we may learn, grow, and heal.

On Band Back Together, we put a face to things not normally discussed. We are the face of depression. We are the face of baby loss. We are the face of mental illness. We are the face of abuse. We are the face of rape. We are the face of SURVIVORS and we are proud to be here. We wear our scars proudly, like battle wounds because everything we've survived has made us who we are today: better, stronger, and smarter.

It's time to pull our skeletons out of the closet and make them dance the tango.

We will no longer let our secrets fester inside. We will no longer live in the dark.

All are welcome.
